Having A Lot Of Stress Causing Neck Pain? 2 Treatment Options For You

Posted on

If you are under a lot of stress, this can cause many problems with your body. One thing that may happen is for you to have pain in the neck. Neck pain can be difficult to deal with as you turn your head throughout the day. Fortunately, there are treatment options available to help you feel better, two of which are listed below.

See a Chiropractor

A chiropractor can help you with neck pain. They will first determine why your neck is hurting. They may suggest you see a doctor if they suspect there is something other than stress causing you to feel pain in your neck. This may be arthritis or a herniated disc. If they suspect it is only stress causing your neck pain, they will develop a treatment plan.

The chiropractor will first determine your posture while sitting and standing. Poor posture can make neck pain even worse. They will ask you about your day-to-day activities. For example, you may sit at a desk too long and not get up and move often which can cause your neck to stiffen.

To treat your neck pain, the chiropractor will have you lie on a table and will manipulate your neck with their hands. They will also manipulate your vertebrae if it is out of alignment. Your neck pain may be caused by a pinched nerve. If so, you may also feel pain down your back and into the shoulder. The chiropractor can also help relieve this pain. They do this by helping the muscles relax, reducing pressure on your nerves, and repositioning your bones. The chiropractor will give you tips on things to do at home, such as stretching exercises.

Treatment From a Doctor

A doctor can also give you treatment for neck pain. They will ask you to use heat and ice therapy and may suggest you go to physical therapy. If you are in a lot of pain, the doctor may prescribe a muscle relaxant or give you a corticosteroid injection in your neck.

If you are having a very hard time when turning your neck, the doctor may suggest you wear a neck collar. There is also neck traction that you can do at the doctor's office. There is neck traction equipment you can purchase to use at home also. The doctor will suggest where to buy this and the best type to purchase.

Both the chiropractor and the doctor can give you much more information to help you with chronic neck pain care
